Folk music of Ethnic groups in Kon Tum province

Audio sample
KON TUM province is in the North Central Highland and at the Indochina junction where is contiguous to Laos and Cambodia. Mostly, the territory of Kon Turn is on the scope of Trường Son range with Ngọc Linh peak which is 2,598 meter high and it is considered as “the top of the roof of the Central Highland”. The age-old inhabitants include Xơ Đâng people, Ba Na people, Giẻ-Triêng people, Gio Rai people, Rơ Măm people and Brâu people. Each ethnic group has its own culture shown not only in daily life, religious activities but also in many unique songs and musical pieces.
Within the scope of the project “Supporting Vietnamese Culture for the sustainable development” sponsored by SI DA (Sweden), the Vietnamese Institute for Musicology would like to introduce some selected folk music items implemented in the fieldwork in 2007 in Kon Turn.
