Tạ Phước, Tạ Văn Phước, (9 August 1919 – 1977) was a musician who devoted his whole life working in fields of composing, performing and training.

The Overture “Waiting” was released by Tạ Phước in 1955 when he served as the Principal of Vietnam Music School (Vietnam National Academy of Music). The piece played by a full symphony orchestra was ably performed by Vietnam first symphony one part.

It was the strong faith content of the work that the country would be united and family members gathered in the context of country division North and South after the Geneva Conventions.
