Proceedings international scientific conference Ca Trù singing of the Việt people
The International Scientific Conference entitled Ca trù singing of the Việt people organized by the Vietnamese Institute for Musicology on June 20, 2006 had the enthusiastic participation of 22 cultural managers and artistic researchers of Vietnam, 07 researchers from France, the United Kingdom, Germany, Laos, in particular Mr. Chu Siu Kee – Head of the UNESCO representative office in Hanoi, and Mr. Michael Di Gregorio – representative of the Ford Foundation in Vietnam.
Twenty – four papers of representatives focused on analyzing and evaluating the issues related to culture, history, art, and the proposals for the national action plan to preserve the today Ca trù heritage among the community life.
Prof. Trần Văn Khê con firmed as follows:”Ca trù is a diversified, sophisticated and skiful combination between poetry and music. Ca trù has specific characteristics in two fields of vocal music and instrument music, which we cannot find in any other musical genres. Ca trù uses little human resources but the effect of performance and art is very high. Ca trù has a Vietnamese origin, and has not been imported from abroad”.
The conference finished with high unanimity and supposed that Ca trù deserves an artistic genre to be submitted to the UNESCO for the recognition as the Orally-transmitted and intangible cultural heritage masterpiece of humanity.
