Anthology of researches, theories and critiques on the 20th century Vietnamese music
Some volumes of the "Anthology of researches, theories and critiques on the 20th century Vietnamese music" published by the Vietnamese Institute for Musicology were presented before the public at the year-end of 2003. Included in the anthology are example articles on Vietnamese music carried on daily newspapers, weekly magazines, monthly reviews, intramural magazines, digests, etc.; written in Vietnamese national script (or translated into Vietnamese if they are originally in a foreign language); and published in Vietnam between early 1901 and late 2000. The anthology composes of 5 volumes, featuring seven different musical areas as following:
Volume I: "Interpretations on Vietnam's musical culture"

Volume IIB: "Traditional instrumental music"
(Introduction by Tô Ngọc Thanh)
Volume III: "Musical instruments"
(Introduction by Vũ Nhật Thǎng)

(Introduction by Bùi Trọng Hiền)
Volume VA: "Modern vocal music"
Volume VB: "Modern instrumental music"
(Introduction by Nguyễn Thị Minh Châu)
Volumes I, IV and VA have been published. The others are scheduled to be finished in 2004.
With around 7000 carefully-picked documentary pages, "Anthology of researches, theories and critiques on the 20th century Vietnamese music" is a voluminous work with painstaking and careful edition. The work will serve as a rare reference book for not only researchers, pupils, and students but also those who find interested on the national music.
